L19 - 2019 A Year In Videos


2019 saw the 50th anniversary of the apollo moon landings meaning many of my films had a space theme, from The Leicester City Festival in the summer with it’s out of this world theme to The Outer Space Bricklive trail and the Overview Effect projections, in 2019 Leicester looked to the Moon.

It was also the year exhibition MODS Shaping A Generation opened at Leicester`s New Walk Museum and Leicesters MODS turned out in large numbers on opening day to give it their seal of approval.

Street Art again featured heavily with Bring The Paint 2019 transforming many of the cities walls and the legal street art zone in St Margarets underpass opening.

Art of a historic type featured when a famous portrait of King Richard III visited New Walk museum on loan from the National Portrait Gallery in London as part of their homecoming project.

Beyond Leicester The Tour Of Yorkshire pro-cycling, The Great Exhibition Space: God, The Universe And Everything at Lichfield Cathedral, Wales Rally GB and Oulton Park all featured.

October saw the opening of the Khun Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Memorial Garden at the site of the tragic helicopter crash that took his life, I visited the moving location on opening day.

The festive season kicked off in November with the Christmas light switch on in the city center and once again a Space theme featured with Highcross shopping center`s event Winter Galactical featuring dancing stormtroopers, Titan the robot and more.

My longest ever film was posted to the channel towards the end of November with the Great Central Railways Magical Winter Wonderlights illuminated train bringing comparisons to the much loved Polar Express film.

By December the channel was in full Christmas mode with Desford Tree Festival and a return to the Abbey Pumping Station (visited at the start of the year) for the Christmas Toys And Steam Day event.

There was also a return to the king power stadium for some festive fun and we joined John Finney and his stuber organ playing in a local Sainsburys store !.

Early Morning at Bradgate Park

This short film was shot by me during the early morning sunrise at Bradgate Park in Leicestershire. The film features Bradgate park which was the birthplace and early home of Lady Jane Grey - 9 days Queen of England. The park is well known for its herds of red and fallow deer who roam freely amongst the spectacular scenery of this unspoilt part of Leicestershire.

BMX National Series at Huncote Hornets, Leicestershire

The 29th and 30th September 2018 saw the #BMX National Series come to #Leicester Huncote Hornets BMX track, The event (rescheduled due to weather issues in early spring) saw riders of all ages arrive in the Leicestershire town from across the country to do battle on the Hornets BMX track behind the Pavilion leisure center. My film aims to give a sense of the race atmosphere on day two of the event where a dramatically cloudy sky and lighting gave a cinematic feel to races on the track. Hold on tight this is a fast one !.

The Paris - Roubaix Bike Race - April 2013

My film features the professional (and dusty !) Paris - Roubaix Bike Race which took place in April 2013 and was filmed at various locations along the route in France. The Race takes place (as its name suggests) on a route between Paris and Roubaix in northern France and is famous for its rough terrain and cobblestones which often cause riders to fall and gives the race its nickname of 'The Hell of the North & 'A Sunday in Hell'. The event was first run in 1896 and as one of cycling's oldest races draws large crowds from many country's. The race was created by two Roubaix textile manufacturers, Théodore Vienne and Maurice Perez.
