The Blue Peter Millennium Time Capsule buried in 1998 beneath the Millennium Dome (now the O2), in Greenwich by presenters Katy Hill and Richard Bacon was due to be opened in 2050. The capsule which features various items from the 90s took a tour of various BBC Local Radio Stations etc after being accidentally unearthed in February 2017 by builders. In this video I visit the capsule and its contents on display at BBC Radio Leicester. After the tour the capsule will be held in The National Archives in Kew alongside a brand new Diamond Time Capsule which will celebrate Blue Peter’s Big Birthday in October 2018.

On Saturday the 15th of September as part of the Heritage Open Days event I took a trip deep below the streets of Leicester into the Robert Stevenson designed Glenfield railway tunnel with Bill Pemberton of the Leicestershire Industrial History Society. We donned our hi-viz jackets and after a safety briefing from our tour guide headed into the brick lined semi-darkness of the tunnel. as our eyes became accustomed to the darkness we where shown ventilation shafts transporting sunlight and air from above into the subterranean space which remained at a constant 10 degrees Celsius  throughout. Our guide then pointed out numbers on the wall written by the workers and marking distances from the tunnel mouth, moving further into the tunnel we where shown another ventilation shaft which like many of its duplicates along the tunnel length is situated in a private garden on the surface. The City Of Leicester played host to an international friendly match between England and Switzerland on 11th September 2018 and the city came alive pre-match with a Fanzone on Jubilee Square featuring freestyle football displays and bands playing in the streets. My film starts off in Jubilee Square where the freestylers show off their skills before we follow a Jazz band as they perform in front of Leicesters famous sporting success statue and Clock tower, before heading back along high street meeting the three lions mascots as they return to the fanzone.

The Cheshireman (A4 class Union Of South Africa) steams through Narborough station in Leicestershire on a its way from Norwich to Chester.

I took a trip to #Nuneaton to see the start of stage 4 of the Tour of Britain. My film begins at the race village in Nuneaton town center where the various competing teams ready their bikes for the race and we see Connor Swift, Chris Froome and other pro-riders head to the start line for rider sign on. After the race begins we see the riders leave the town and head out on to the stage. We then pick up the action further on in #Kenilworth where the large castle provides a dramatic backdrop to the action. The stage finished in Royal Leamington Spa (not featured) and is part of the Tour Of Britain a countrywide cycle race held annually in various locations around Britain.

The annual Victory Show in the Leicestershire village of Cosby sees numerous re-enactment society's coming together at foxlands farm to create living history displays and answer visitors questions about the period. The show also includes an airshow, a battle re-enactment and more. My film and images aim to give an overview of the event and features a selection of the displays and for first time a Parachute drop from the back of a DC3 Dakota among other things.
