Sirens: Songs Of Sisterhood - Journeys Festival International

In Sirens: Songs Of Sisterhood by  @liminalcreative1567  seven rock-like forms transform as you wander through them with watery hues and hidden voices a ever changing soundscape is created around you. The piece is inspired by the views of women in global society, seen through the lens of ancient mythology. This special Leicester edition is shaped by the voices and experiences of a local women's group. My film the second from this years #JourneysFestivalInternational by  @_ArtReach  begins with  @LeicesterCathedral  bells ringing as we turn to see the artwork installed in the gardens, as we explore the stones the various sounds of the women's voices mix with the sound of crows and the Cathedrals own resident Peregrines. As we take a closer look at the markings on the stones we experience, through the magic of editing, Day turning to night and the piece taking on an even more otherworldly form in the darkness the rocks now glow as the voices becom...

And…Breathe, By Pif-Paf -Journeys Festival International

AND...BREATHE By Pif-Paf is an immersive sound and light installation exploring Breath, Breathing both alone and together and encourages interaction and mindfulness. The artists invite you to take a moment and step into a world of light, sound and connection. In my film I explore the piece initially by day but more deeply at an evening "Twilight Session" in which the lighting in the cathedral is lowered to give the lights on the piece more prominence and create a even more immersive experience, with King Richard III`s final resting place alongside the atmosphere and setting is certainly one of contemplation. The piece responds to the movement of people etc as they move through the space and through its arches neatly mirroring the arches of the cathedrals architecture.

Out Of The Deep Blue, Journeys Festival 2023

Out Of The Deep Blue part of Journeys Festival International 2023. When big waves wash Eko a sentient sea giant onto the shore he encounters Violet a young girl. The two tell a story, a dialogue around our planet's climate emergency, the power of friendships and more told through dance, movement and masterful puppeteering. Eko created by Leicester`s own Mr Cleaver and Autin Dance Theater Co meets the audience before performing in front of the city`s Clock Tower.

Journeys Festival International 2022

Now in its 10th year the Journeys Festival International took over the streets of Leicester over the weekend of 12th-14th August. Bringing together performers from around the UK and further afield the festivals aim is to explore big ideas and create experiences that will excite and entertain. By coming together in Leicester the festival celebrates its diversity and the journeys we all make in our lives. As you view my film see if you can spot the Liberty Angels by Oak Leaf Street Show, watching from positions that give them an overview of the city and its people you may spot them in the background of some of the other performances. The film begins at the clock tower with Frock by Stopgap Dance Company, before a giant slug invades Jubilee Square ! in Seed By Piff-Paff Theater Company. The Liberty Angels come down from their high vantage points to walk among us on the high street before we end on an highly kinetic  environmental message from Highly Sprung`s Cast Away as the keeper o...

Commissioned by ArtReach for Journeys Festival International, with funding from Arts Council England and BID Leicester. Also funded by The Organ Project and Fratton Big Local, supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and The National Lottery Community Fund.
