After the success of the event in 2020, the Cosby Crafters are back in 2021 with a new Yarnbomb with a theme of "up up and away" to brighten up the village. With creations including cheeky seagulls, fairytale characters, Giant Butterflies and more there was something for everyone. The postbox in The Nook has been given a topper Mr Whippy (parked alongside) would be proud of, there`s even a flake and raspberry sauce. A little further down the road several giant butterflies have come to rest on the side of a barn and a large knitted sign gives passing motorists and visitors a clue as to whats happening. As you enter the village a knitted bi-plane is flying a strange flight path whilst outside the popular Tithe Barn a group of knitted geese form their V shape flying formation.

The village of Barwell in Leicestershire has been yarnbombed* by a group of Knitters (Barwell Knutty Knitters) lead by Lesley Waldron. The group of knitters took 18+ months to create the works which feature a variety of topics from a well stocked aquarium in a local garage window to a tree dressed as a green and red parrot. Look out for the bees nest in a tree but don`t worry about their sting these bees are made of wool. How many things can you spot ?. *YarnBombing is the practice of covering various street furniture etc in knitted works with the aim of brightening up an area.

The center of the Leicestershire Village of Barwell has been subjected to a #YarnBomb by Barwell Guerilla knitters. I took a visit to the village to find street furniture, seating and even trees covered in bright wool and fun characters all knitted over several months by Barwell Guerilla knitters and placed around the village in one morning meaning the residents of Barwell woke to a much more colorful and cheerful scene than they where accustomed. I was told by a group member The event is a way to raise the profile of Barwell in a positive light and hopefully put a smile on the faces of local people (and visitors).
