Rail 200 - Inspiration Leicester

I visited Leicester Station to see the #Rail200 touring train "Inspiration" an exhibition on rails the train is travelling the  country attending various events to mark 200 years of passenger travel on UK railways. The film starts outside the station and it`s beautiful frontage facing Leicester`s London road, There`s a brief cameo from a  @LOROSHospice   #StompRoundLeicester Elephant before we`re on platform 3 with regular services passing through the station. Soon from under the London Road bridge comes a bright light and Inspiration appears pulled by two Mainline class 66 freight locomotives in striking red livery and with coaches stating Future, Past, Present and Inspiration each a key part of this unique travelling exhibition for Rail200, as inspiration passes by on its way to #GreatestGathering in Derby a regularly scheduled EMR service pulls into the station beside me. Earl Of Mount Edgcumbe Through Narborough Station

Filmed safely from the footbridge at the station, this video sees GWR steam engine Earl Of Mount Edgcumbe race through Narborough Station in Leicestershire on a test run along the line.

Bus and Train Spectacular

On 7th May a selection of vintage busses from various decades made their way to Quorn And Woodhouse Station on the Great Central Railway to take part in the Bus And Train Spectacular. With busses running a timetable of trips between stations and moving around the yard there was lots going on throughout the day with lots of highly polished and well kept vehicles to see all lined up. My film hopes to give an idea of the sights and sounds of the event and follows several of the buses around the site. The event is a joint collaboration of the Leicester Transport Heritage Trust and The Great Central Railway.

GCR Heritage Bus Running Day

I visited the Great Central Railways Quorn and Woodhouse station where numerous vintage buses from across the decades and county had met for a Bus rally and heritage running day. Once a regular sight on the roads of #Leicester and also in the wider country many viewers will remember catching a "Midland Red" or a "Fox Cub" into Leicester City center and the destination board at the start of my film features many familiar stops. Also featured in this film are buses and coaches used by many for trips to the seaside in skegness or maybe to Wembley Stadium for a Leicester City Cup Final this event and the vehicles featured are sure to bring back fond memories for many. Look out for a bonus appearance by the GCR Rail car which could be described as a sort of "Bus on rails". Fun fact I found my old School Bus at the event !.

Abbey Pumping Station Christmas Toys And Steam Day

I visited Abbey Pumping Station in Leicester for the annual Christmas Toys & Steam Day. The event usual held in December features many historic steam powered Vehicles and collections of toys from Christmas past. Visitors are invited to take a ride on the museums steam train Leonard and see the Pumping Stations beautifully designed beam engines in operation which can be seen in my previous post at http://leigh984.blogspot.co.uk/2013/12/AbbeyPumpingStation.html Images Follow

The Curry Train

On the evening of 28th March 2013 The Curry Train (5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe) completed a circular tour of the Midlands. Taking in several stations along the route the train was named The Curry Train due to its passengers being served Curry's from around the world as they travelled from station to station. My film features the train as it thunders through Narborough Station illuminated only by the lights of the station before continuing on its journey.

Leonard - The Steam Engine

Leonard is a narrow gauge steam engine that operates at the Abbey Pumping station, an industrial museum in Leicester, England. During the museums regular Christmas steam days the engine can be found giving visitors rides along a length of track which runs along the edge of the site. My video follows Leonard as oil and various parts of the engine are checked before heading off on a journey pulling small carriages full of exited visitors.

The Bank Holiday Panniers (7752 & 9600) - Narborough Station

This short film features two Pannier Tank engines (7752 & 9600) as they speed full steam through Narborough station on their way to Leicester. I have given the video a deliberately cinema style effect evocative of classics such as brief encounter etc, the cropped image also highlights the drama of the trains as they speed past.
