  SKB, Syston Knitting Banksy is back with a truly spectacular topper for #stgeorgesday 2026! The topper outside the Syston Methodist Church is a sight to behold, featuring an impressive dragon standing proudly beside St George himself. Some might say the artwork ‘Totally Slays’, but such a cute dragon deserves a better fate, in my opinion. We kick off the video with two Syston visitors chatting about the topper as they pass by. ‘It’s not till tomorrow…’ ‘What’s not till tomorrow?’ ‘St George’s Day…’ Then, we dive into the creation, admiring its friendly look and big green eyes. As village life goes on around them, St George and his legendary big green foe keep a watchful eye from their unique community-funded postbox top.

In 2025 Leicesters Old Town Festival took on a Roman flavour with a Roman encampment on Jubilee Square featuring a life sized forum and exploring Leicester`s Roman past. Alongside the Romans the usual fun of the festival could be found at the @LeicesterCathedral Gardens with St George and his Dragon (inferno) FACT: St George was a solider in the Roman Army !. We start our day in a fiery way with Inferno the dragon breathing smoke and meeting visitors. Then from New Street we hear the unmistakable sound of bells as Leicester Morris arrive and perform a traditional dance in the Cathedral Gardens. After the excitement of the dance we move to the relative calm of the @LeicesterMuseums Guildhall where a Roman style mosaic is being created inspired by those soon to be displayed at @JewryWallRoman160AD (Re-Opening 26th July 2025). A brief march with a passing troop of Roman Soldiers brings us to Jubilee Square where Bill Brookman and Christine Parsons of www.billbrookman.co.uk welcome...

The annual celebration of the story of St George comes to Orton Square in Leicester`s cultural quarter. Featuring knights on stilts, Allin Kempthorne and his baby dragon (as seen on Britain's Got Talent), Traditional Maypole Dancing, Bill Brookman and Friends and St George himself among the attractions this event has something for all the family.
