Christmas Lights Switch On - Christmas In Leicester 2018

In the second of my films documenting Christmas in Leicester I take a look at events in the center around the clock tower and town hall square. We start by the clock tower where we see the tree in all its glory equaling and maybe surpassing the famous clock in height and grandeur. A fairy shows us her magical levitating globe, before we visit town hall square where we meet once again the snow queen and her neon birds navigating the town hall steps. The beautiful and elegant  Christmas Belles are nearby balancing on stilts and meeting visitors whilst the instantly recognizable (to many a Leicester resident) Seasons Greetings lights flash behind fixed to the Queen Anne style town hall.

Remembrance Poppy Display - Newbold Verdon

The Newbold Verdon Knit and Stitch group meet most Wednesdays at the village library. One meeting the group decided they wanted to mark the 100th anniversary of armistice day approaching in some way, it was decided that kitted poppies would be the way to go and so plans and Knitting needles where set in motion creating hundreds of Poppies for a display who`s form was yet to be finalized. Ideas flew about the group faster than than their hands could knit, how would the poppies be displayed, inside or out, cascade or hung from a tree, maybe even a model plane could be included ?. Eventually a cascade over the planting behind a bench just outside the library was agreed and the poppies where attached to black plastic netting familiar to many a gardener and placed over the prickly hedge, the poppies where joined on either side of the bench by large silhouettes of soldiers on plastic signboard printed by a local sign maker and applied by myself completing the display. Diwali Day Fireworks Over Leicester

A alternative view of the Diwali Day fireworks in Leicester with The National Space Center and Abbey Pumping station in the foreground. I found a high vantage point looking out across the city providing a view over the well known Golden Mile area and a top vantage point to view the spectacular firework display celebrating Diwali Day in the city. Also look out for the Wheel Of Light and countless smaller displays lighting up the night sky over the city. Wishing a very Happy Diwali to all Celebrating from Leigh984

Remembering Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha

On 27th October 2018, Leicester City played West Ham United in the Premier League. A helicopter crash shortly after take-off from the King Power Stadium, claimed the lives 5 people on board including club owner and chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha. In the following days people came to the stadium to pay their respects to a man held in high regard in the city and footballing world leaving tributes and signing a book of condolence. My film documents a visit to see the tributes and lay my own, it is published as a tribute to a great man who was instrumental in taking the club I have supported since birth to places we only could dream of such as winning the Premier League and more. "If wealth be measured in kindness we will be forever in your debt." R.I.P Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha
