St George’s Festival Leicester

The annual celebration of the story of St George comes to Orton Square in Leicester`s cultural quarter. Featuring knights on stilts, Allin Kempthorne and his baby dragon (as seen on Britain's Got Talent), Traditional Maypole Dancing, Bill Brookman and Friends and St George himself among the attractions this event has something for all the family. My film hopes to give a flavor of the event with lots more to see on the day, for more details please consult the Visit Leicester website.

Rhizome By Tom & Lien Dekyvere - Orton Square Leicester

A look at the Rhizome artwork By Tom & Lien Dekyvere on display in Orton Square, Leicester as the snow of Storm Arwen covers the city. The light installation consists of tall structures connected by colour changing neon ropes probing for unexpected connections. Hundreds of meters of suspended illuminated rope create a interconnected glowing network above the viewer. The word "Rhizome" originates in Botany and the installation aims to reflect our intrinsic connection to nature and the increasingly blurred lines between it and technology. The work is on display in Leicester`s Orton Square between 18th November and 5th January 2022 between 4:30pm - 10:30pm daily.

#SanskritiGrafitti By G Sian at Curve Leicester

A look at artist G Sian`s work on the glass of Curve Leicester entitled Sanskriti Grafitti. The artist has created a work in which he visualizes the breadth of his understanding of the world contrasting the movement of the reflections and activity in and around the theater with the static lines of the work creating a multilayered effect that when viewed close encourages the viewer to explore the piece so as not to miss any part. When the piece is viewed from distance the viewer is enveloped into the large scale of piece and becomes part of the work. The artist himself has worked across various media including  cinema, painting, theater, design, linguistics and classics. for more information on the artists work see http://gsian.com My film aims to give a overview of the piece and act as a documentation and record of it before its removed in late October / early November 2016.

PixelPyros,Light The Night - Cultral Quarter, Leicester

Timed to coincide with the switching on of Leicester's Christmas lights in 2013 Orton Square in the Cultural Quarter of Leicester was transformed by a interactive display of digital fireworks projected onto a giant screen alongside Curve theatre by the PixelPyros project. Using lasers and projections the display encouraged the audience to activate the pyrotechnics by waving their hands in front of sensors at the base of the screen creating a colourful display of fireworks in time to the dance music. The display then turned into a giant game of Invaders and Asteroids before culminating with the words GOODNIGHT spelt out in sparking letters. More info on the PixelPyros Project can be found at http://pixelpyros.org. PixelPyros is designed and programmed by digital artist Seb Lee-Delisle. images follow
