  The Dinosaurs have come back to life and are walking the streets of Leicester !. No it's not the plot of the latest instalment in the Jurassic Park franchise it's Dino Fest bought to Leicester by ‪@bidleicester‬ and starring Dinosaurs from ‪@rentadinosaur1303‬ the prehistoric fun sees the old town transformed into a Dinosaur playground with people of all ages gathering in front of ‪@LeicesterCathedral‬ to witness the show. The enthusiastic Dino Wranglers show the audience the beasts of an earlier time, with a little help from some of the younger members the Dinosaurs are bought under control and the fun, educational show concludes.   The Old Town Festival returned to Leicester with something for everyone from across time. Turns out you don't need a TARDIS to travel through time; you can do it at the Leicester Old Town Festival. Starting our journey through time with an Anglo-Saxon ship , Brendan the Bold , which, although seaworthy, is on the dry land of Jubilee Square. On deck, we see a lady weaving a traditional fishing net. Next up, we see the ​⁠‪@ VikingsofMiddleEngland ‬ demonstrating the often brutal combat techniques used in the era (these people are trained professional re-enactors; please do not attempt to copy). Moving forward in time, we follow ‪@lordthomasgreysregimentoff6873‬ ( Lord Thomas Grey’s Regiment of Foot ) marching past BBC Radio Leicester and Leicestershire’s oldest building , the Guildhall , through to the ​⁠ Where, after being dismissed, things take a turn for the fantastical with Dragons! outside the ​⁠‪@kriiivisitorcenter1485‬. The sound of bells signals the arrival of Leicester...

  AND...BREATHE By Pif-Paf is an immersive sound and light installation exploring Breath, Breathing both alone and together and encourages interaction and mindfulness. The artists invite you to take a moment and step into a world of light, sound and connection. In my film I explore the piece initially by day but more deeply at an evening "Twilight Session" in which the lighting in the cathedral is lowered to give the lights on the piece more prominence and create a even more immersive experience, with King Richard III`s final resting place alongside the atmosphere and setting is certainly one of contemplation. The piece responds to the movement of people etc as they move through the space and through its arches neatly mirroring the arches of the cathedrals architecture.  

After successful displays of Museum Of The Moon and Gaia aka Earth, (See previous videos on this website), Artist  Luke Jerram brings Mars War & Peace to the Leicester Cathedral . The #MarsArtwork, Like his previous pieces uses high resolution images of the planets surface mapped in scale onto a inflated sphere giving the viewer a sense of the grandeur and scale of the real planet and a chance in this sacred space to contemplate our place in the universe. Leicester Cathedral has always lead the way in hosting artworks within it's impressive space, a beautiful space, recently refurbished and extended, that with it`s tall stone columns, roof held up by golden angels and own grandeur complements the other worldly artwork hanging inside. Mars War & Peace is at the Leicester Cathedral from 16th May - 8th June 2025.

In 2025 Leicesters Old Town Festival took on a Roman flavour with a Roman encampment on Jubilee Square featuring a life sized forum and exploring Leicester`s Roman past. Alongside the Romans the usual fun of the festival could be found at the @LeicesterCathedral Gardens with St George and his Dragon (inferno) FACT: St George was a solider in the Roman Army !. We start our day in a fiery way with Inferno the dragon breathing smoke and meeting visitors. Then from New Street we hear the unmistakable sound of bells as Leicester Morris arrive and perform a traditional dance in the Cathedral Gardens. After the excitement of the dance we move to the relative calm of the @LeicesterMuseums Guildhall where a Roman style mosaic is being created inspired by those soon to be displayed at @JewryWallRoman160AD (Re-Opening 26th July 2025).   I take a look at Space by Luxmuralis at Leicester Cathedral. Having previously witnessed Luxmuralis work at Lichfield Cathedral I was exited to see what the artists would create at Leicester Cathedral with its similar architecture but ultimately quite different layout and size. I attended the 8pm showing after attending the Leicester Christmas Lights Switch on (see previous film) on an icy cold 20th November. The Windows of the cathedral were illuminated in various colours as I approached, with the show on a loop the grand soundtrack by David Harper could be heard as I entered the building. Following a route around the interior of this familiar place transformed by Peter Walker and his team with light and projections, I turned right to see King Richard III`s final resting place like never before, illuminated in blue and pink light an ethereal atmosphere was created and with a projection portraying the passage of time projected onto the cathedral wall in front of the Kings tomb, a...

  PART 1 The Journeys Festival returns to its roots in 2024 as a celebration of diversity and exploring the journeys people make in their lives. My two part highlights film takes a look at events throughout the city, stating in part one at Jubilee Square where we are greeted by Sambando (as featured previously on this channel) who chase away the rain clouds with their toe tapping beats. Next up we see the amazing artwork of the Desibus with art on wheels. A fun and bonkers performance of Toast by Pif Paf theatre is next in which we are taken around the world by the Guild Of Toasters, using song, Dance and folk tales passed trough generations.
