Hinckley BID Motor Show 15th Anniversary

 

The Annual HinckleyBID⁩ Motor Show came to the town on 20th September, and with 2026, the show reached the milestone of its 15th anniversary. Welcoming over 700 vehicles, the show was a petrol heads’ paradise with much-loved cars, bikes, scooters, and more from across the decades lining Castle Street, Market Place, and more, including Argents Mead Park and the town’s leisure centre. We begin as the scooters arrive with the distinctive sound of their two-stroke engines evoking the days of the Mods, etc. Next, we see the wide selection of cars parked along the streets, including a line of very colourful VW Beatles with their mini duplicates ready to inspire the next generation of enthusiasts. Next, it’s through the gates into Argents Mead Park, or maybe that should be Jurassic Park as a 4x4 from the franchise is on display (dinosaurs not included!). As the band strike up Waterloo by ABBA in the bandstand, we take a look at a variety of big American cars from the 50s era and beyond, the red and chrome reminding me of Biff’s car in the back to the future trilogy⁩ (hopefully there are no manure trucks nearby!). Next, outside the Leisure Centre, the stars and stripes of the American flag are flying above various NYPD police patrol cars, and you get bonus points if you can spot current (at time of publication) leicestershire police⁩ Commissioner Rupert Mathews speaking with the owner of one of them. Back now to Market Place, and there are rally cars from the 70s, 80s, and even the 90s on display. We cut to the scooters and bikes section again next, with a couple of Mods heading off and a Harley Davidson and sidecar. The Classics on Market Place are also in the move, with a Morris Traveller heading off on further adventures, followed closely by a vintage red rally car. All the time, Jolene by the late Dolly Parton is performed by a tribute act on one of the stages around the event. A red pick-up truck leads a number of cars away from the event as it winds down, including a French limousine as featured in my previous film from Hinckley BID’s monthly Motor Shows. As the most varied traffic jam to ever form in Hinckley continues, we see our friends from earlier, the two VW Beatles with their mini counterparts on top. As the last vehicles head away from the event, Denise replaces the cone in the road, and I hit the open road myself. #hiddengems
