Try Railway Ale vintage style advert

As part of the promotion for the Great Central Railway`s real ale Raleway Ale brewed by Nottingham Brewery I created this vintage style poster advertising the Ale to be displayed at events such as the ale train and wherever Nottingham Brewery ales are sold. The design takes its inspiration from the vintage drink posters as seen on display along the length of the railway and often framed in heritage pubs.

GCR - Teddy Bears Holiday Express

Created as an update to existing posters and flyers my design for the Great Central Railways Teddy Bear Express features a new character called Ted E Bear created by myself driving and waving aboard the Holiday Express (the event coincides with the local school holidays). The color scheme was taken and updated from the original posters and is designed to be colorful and engaging for kids with bright yellows and and reds with Ted E Bear wearing blue overalls. The information is presented in a bold sans serif typeface with a more traditional heavy serif-ed typeface chosen for the title evoking the tradition of this event. The poster like my other work for the Great Central Railway uses a flat style reminiscent of the vintage railway posters already on display at the railway meaning this poster fits with its surroundings whilst still looking suitably modern in other locations. A poster welcoming visitors to the event can be seen below

Bluebell Wood Fosse Park

Hidden close to a busy motorway junction near Fosse Park in Leicester is a small woodland area that turns a bright shade of blue every May as a carpet of bluebells covers the ground. Bee`s, butterfly and if your lucky the occasional rabbit can be seen among the flowers as they sway in the wind. My short video captures the beautiful scene as the sunlight filters through the trees giving the scene an almost fairy tale like quality. images follow

Rutland - Melton Cicle Classic 2015

My film features some of the pre-race atmosphere and start of the race in Oakham before following the cyclists out into the surrounding countryside and showcases the spectacular speed at which the bikes travel. The Rutland to Melton Cicle Classic is a road bicycle race that starts in Oakham and finishes in Melton Mowbray. The race features many off-road sections and short, sharp climbs on narrow farm tracks in this way it is similar to the Paris–Roubaix and Tour of Flanders races.

GCR Railways At Work Event

The GCR Railways At Work event featured period vehicles and traction engines helping to turn Quorn & Woodhouse station into a recreation of a working goods yard showing how the railways moved freight around the country, becoming a lifeline to towns and villages ahead of the age of mass road transportation. A Jinty type steam loco worked the Quorn sidings alongside the period vehicles and a 'blink and you`ll miss it' high speed mail train also featured. In my short film I hope to capture some of the atmosphere of the event and all that was going on at this busy and well attended event. Images follow

Leicester Glows - Reinterment of King Richard III

On Friday 27th March a week of events marking the reinterment of king Richard III concluded with a spectacular firework display from the roof of Leicester Cathedral and Leicester Glows a fire garden featuring over 8.000 flames placed around the city's old town. The evening began with a spectacular firework display from the roof of the cathedral with bright colors and fiery serpents snaking into the sky delighting the gathered crowd in the cathedral gardens many joked that after having just getting settled King Richard might be awoken by the noise. The mood changed to one of quiet wonder as the crowds dispersed into the fire garden in front of the cathedral and surrounding streets where over 8.000 flames flickered and bathed the area in candlelight. Meanwhile in the courtyard of the RIII visitor center the outline of Richards crown was created by spark arts using night light candles. images follow

The Reinterment of Richard III - Leicester

On the 22nd March The university of Leicester transferred the mortal remains of King Richard III to the city's Cathedral where they will be reburied. The Kings remains left the University before visiting several villages in Leicestershire and the battlefield in Bosworth where he fell they then returned to the city via the Bow Bridge which Richard crossed both on his way into battle and once again when he returned defeated by Henry Tudor. The coffin was transferred to a horse drawn carriage at St Nicholas Church the City's oldest before traveling around the city ending at the Cathedral where a evening service of compline was held watched by hundreds as the sun set on big screens at various locations around the city concluding the first day of a historic week for the city of Leicester. My video aims to give a feeling of the atmosphere of the historic day showing the crowds gathering before the coffin passes by Jubilee Square, being taken into the cathedral and ending with a vi...
