Chinese New Year 2023 - Leicester

A look at Chinese New Year celebrations in the city of Leicester.
Celebrations start with a traditional lion dance performed on campus before moving to Jubilee Square, once in the square we meet two Dragons, a traditional chinese dragon and one created by Mr Cleavers Monsters (@mrcleaver9907) called Brimstone.
The procession departs along the High Street occasionally stopping at points along the route to give businesses New Years greetings. 
Continuing to the beat of the drum the procession reaches the clock tower and entertains the large crowd with dancing and interactions.
The route through the city takes the dragons to the aptly named Green Dragon Square, where a spectacular finale of lights, fire dancers and a firework display from the roof of the Corn Exchange brings the days events to a colorful and exciting conclusion. 
The event was delivered by Cosmopolitan Arts.

Early Morning at Bradgate Park

This short film was shot by me during the early morning sunrise at Bradgate Park in Leicestershire. The film features Bradgate park which was the birthplace and early home of Lady Jane Grey - 9 days Queen of England. The park is well known for its herds of red and fallow deer who roam freely amongst the spectacular scenery of this unspoilt part of Leicestershire.

BMX National Series at Huncote Hornets, Leicestershire

The 29th and 30th September 2018 saw the #BMX National Series come to #Leicester Huncote Hornets BMX track, The event (rescheduled due to weather issues in early spring) saw riders of all ages arrive in the Leicestershire town from across the country to do battle on the Hornets BMX track behind the Pavilion leisure center. My film aims to give a sense of the race atmosphere on day two of the event where a dramatically cloudy sky and lighting gave a cinematic feel to races on the track. Hold on tight this is a fast one !.

The Paris - Roubaix Bike Race - April 2013

My film features the professional (and dusty !) Paris - Roubaix Bike Race which took place in April 2013 and was filmed at various locations along the route in France. The Race takes place (as its name suggests) on a route between Paris and Roubaix in northern France and is famous for its rough terrain and cobblestones which often cause riders to fall and gives the race its nickname of 'The Hell of the North & 'A Sunday in Hell'. The event was first run in 1896 and as one of cycling's oldest races draws large crowds from many country's. The race was created by two Roubaix textile manufacturers, Théodore Vienne and Maurice Perez.
