Desford Scarecrow Festival 2022 - The Reigning Years

The annual Desford Scarecrow Festival returned over the August Bank Holiday with a theme of "The Reigning Years" a celebration of events that have occured during HRH Queen Elizabeth II`s reign. The theme "The Reigning Years" offered the creative residents and businesses of Desford a wide variety of options upon which to base their creations, many chose the Royals as a theme with a number of interpretations of the Queens famous parachute entry into the 2012 Olympics alongside Daniel Craig's James Bond. There where some fun interpretations of her majesty's faithful canine friends too with a highlight being a Corgi street party in Manor Gardens (renamed Royal Gardens for the occasion and detailing the lives of the royal family though the decades. The beatles arrived in a classic green car and we took a trip to the club tropicana. There was a Newsflash when the BBC (which celebrates its 100 year centenary in 2022) inspired one creator who turned their front garden into a vintage News studio complete with camera and announcer sat at a microphone. My film features a selection of the numerous entries around the village and ends with one small step for man but a giant leap for scarecrow kind as an astronaut is seen leaping a hedge !.

Early Morning at Bradgate Park

This short film was shot by me during the early morning sunrise at Bradgate Park in Leicestershire. The film features Bradgate park which was the birthplace and early home of Lady Jane Grey - 9 days Queen of England. The park is well known for its herds of red and fallow deer who roam freely amongst the spectacular scenery of this unspoilt part of Leicestershire.

BMX National Series at Huncote Hornets, Leicestershire

The 29th and 30th September 2018 saw the #BMX National Series come to #Leicester Huncote Hornets BMX track, The event (rescheduled due to weather issues in early spring) saw riders of all ages arrive in the Leicestershire town from across the country to do battle on the Hornets BMX track behind the Pavilion leisure center. My film aims to give a sense of the race atmosphere on day two of the event where a dramatically cloudy sky and lighting gave a cinematic feel to races on the track. Hold on tight this is a fast one !.

The Paris - Roubaix Bike Race - April 2013

My film features the professional (and dusty !) Paris - Roubaix Bike Race which took place in April 2013 and was filmed at various locations along the route in France. The Race takes place (as its name suggests) on a route between Paris and Roubaix in northern France and is famous for its rough terrain and cobblestones which often cause riders to fall and gives the race its nickname of 'The Hell of the North & 'A Sunday in Hell'. The event was first run in 1896 and as one of cycling's oldest races draws large crowds from many country's. The race was created by two Roubaix textile manufacturers, Théodore Vienne and Maurice Perez.
