Heather Scarecrow Festival 2017

I took a visit to the opening day of the 19th annual Heather Scarecrow festival in the village of Heather Leicestershire. The festival running between 30th July and 6th August 2017 sees the Residents, Schools and Nurseries of the village create scarecrows on themes of their choice and asks visitors to walk a trail choosing and voting for their favorite. My film features a number of the Scarecrows around the village but a visit to the event is highly recommended if in the area. for further information on the event please visit www.heatherscarecrowfestival.com

Snapshots - Leicestershire Wheat Field

Leigh984 Snapshots are short videos etc in which I look at a particular topic or visual idea, in this film I look at the movement of a wheat field in the breeze. I`ve always found the movement of wheat blowing in the wind to be quite amazing the whole field almost seems to move as one like a body of water. In this snapshot I look at this movement in a Leicestershire field beneath a blue sky. Also look out for a wind turbine and a splash of color from poppies dotted among the wheat.

Desford In Bloom & #YarnBomb

The village of Desford was transformed in 2017 for Desford in Bloom and #YarnBomb . Desford in Bloom founded by Ewan Lindsay in 2016 comprises of 4 groups; The Committee, The Watering Team, The Planting Team and the Community. The village was entered into the East Midlands in Bloom Competition in the Small Town Category and is sponsored by nearby Tropical Birdland from which it uses as its theme in 2017. The #YarnBomb element of the event has been created by dedicated knitters from local groups and compliments the "In Bloom" event. The village is dotted with cutout images of tropical birds painted by local school children and groups continuing the tropical bird theme. My film aims to bring you a taste of the event but a visit is highly recommended, further information can be found at www.desfordinbloom.co.uk
