Once upon a time in a galaxy far far... wait a second lets start that again, Once upon a time in Leicester a collection of vintage toy figures, spacecraft and artwork from a popular science fiction film franchise where brought together by collector Matt Fox at the cities New Walk museum. Fans both young and old jumped into their transport craft (cars) eager to relive countless childhood hours spent recreating scenes from that adventure among the stars. May The Toys Be With You brings together the UK`s finest collection of Action Figures, Spacecraft and Artwork from the popular generation spanning Star Wars films, toys from which where created at nearby Palitoy based in Coalville (Leicestershire). Being the main UK distributors of the films toy line Palitoy where behind the unprecedented demand for the iconic toys that went on to sell more than the films that inspired them from 1977 - 1985 an estimated 300 million figures where sold. The visually striking There But Not There is the 2018 Armistice project for the charity Remembered. Each clear silhouette represents local fallen wherever they are listed. The project aims to place a representative figure for every name on local war memorials around the country, into their place of worship, their school, their workplace or wherever their absence was keenly felt, back in the communities they left behind. The project aims to Commemorate, Educate and Heal the three aims of the remembered charity. My film features the project installed in Leicester cathedral and commemorates and remembers those who fell in the city and county of Leicester and Leicestershire, we start outside the cathedral before entering St George's Chapel inside the cathedral. The chapel, enclosed by a carved wooden screen, was reconstructed in 1921 and contains memorials to the men of the Royal Leicestershire Regiment, regimental colors are displayed along one side of the chapel.  (This film does not feature the entire service.) I was invited to attend a special service at Newbold Verdon Methodist Church led by Revd. Dave Hasledine with John Finney a member of the Magic Lantern Society of Great Britain who brought along his 100+ year old Magic Lantern and collection of original glass worship slides. The Revd. Hasledine and Mr Finney created and led a service that closely resembled the ones experienced by Victorian churchgoers with the lanterns only modification being to use modern LED illumination rather than the more risky paraffin lamps used in the past. After an introduction from Revd. Hasledine Mr Finney spoke of the history of his Magic Lantern before projecting hymns for the congregation to sing in worship accompanied by church Organist Janet James. During the hymns we see a selection of the intricately beautiful hand drawn slides many not used in worship for over 100 years.

I worked alongside the team at BBC Radio Leicester to create logos, posters etc for the first ever Asian Life Festival celebrating 50 years of Asian Life and culture in the city of Leicester. My brief was to create a strong branding for the festival with modern design and an Asian style. The event in Jubilee Square featured, The Curry Show Live, an extension of the Monday evening food show on BBC Radio Leicester, featuring food stalls from variety of local restaurants,  An open air showing of the Bollywood film Jadoo directed and written by  Amit Gupta,  which was filmed in the city and a 2 hour stage spectacular featuring dance, drama, poetry and an audio/visual piece telling the story of Leicesters Asian Community. The stage show featured performances from  Shaimak Dancers,  Nupur Arts,  Mr Shay and  BBC Introducing artist Riya. The 29th and 30th September 2018 saw the #BMX National Series come to #Leicester Huncote Hornets BMX track, The event (rescheduled due to weather issues in early spring) saw riders of all ages arrive in the Leicestershire town from across the country to do battle on the Hornets BMX track behind the Pavilion leisure center. My film aims to give a sense of the race atmosphere on day two of the event where a dramatically cloudy sky and lighting gave a cinematic feel to races on the track.
