The August Bank Holiday Weekend can mean only one thing in the Leicestershire village of Desford, It`s Scarecrow Festival time !. This years theme was "Desford Goes Wild" which got residents and businesses looking to the natural world and beyond to interpret the theme in their own unique way, cue Lions, Tigers, Monkeys and a trip to the Wild Amazon alongside an underwater scene, complete with big a orange octopus, a swing by Tarzan's tree house (or should that be Overhanging Building ?), there is even a trip to the old wild west where there`s talk of Gold to be panned for !. My film shows just a few of the wide selection of amazing creations around the village, visitors could also enjoy a wide range of entertainment, food and more at the church of St.Martins.

Take a look behind the scenes of the 2024 Cosby Yarnbomb as the yarnbombers get the various displays together at various "stitch up days" before heading out into the village itself to place them, they wrap lamp posts, post boxes, buildings and more in bright colours covering anything that looks like it needs brightening up !. The Yarnbomb is the culmination of work through the year by not for profit group Gather, Create, Grow who`s aim it is to help combat loneliness in the community and recovery and ultimately bring a bit of joy and magic into the community and peoples lives.   An Under Sea themed postbox topper appeared on Newbold Verdon delighting young and old with is quirky collection of under sea creatures, from the octopus with it's long legs to a Clown fish, Blue Tang duo (who might just be off to find a someone) there's also a sea horse and urchins making up the menagerie.  Seaweed lines the edge of the postbox and there`s shells too making for a group of characters so fun that a certain friendly red crustacean might just burst into a song about it. Motorcycle group "Sportster Sickness" held a ride out with over 200 riders taking part. The ride out which aimed to raise funds for a Boy named Alfie who has a brain tumour, began at the Leicester Forest East Motorway Services before travelling though various Leicestershire villages on route to Mallory Park Race Circuit where the bikes, after gathering, did several parade laps of the track before heading back on the road the distinct sound of the engines roaring thrilling spectators looking on from track side. The Sportster Sickness group was set up in 2015 by Hinckley's James Bricknell with view to creating a community around the Sportster model of Harley Davidson Motorbike, the group has now expanded to include multiple regional groups across the UK, with "The Big One" being a focus for them to come together to "do some good".

A look at Cosby Yarnbomb 2024 with it`s theme of Fun & Games, Mischief & Mayhem. My film of the Cosby Yarnbomb 2024 comes in three distinct sections. Starting with sports, including the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, but first off to the Tour De France where a Knitted life sized rider has the yellow jersey, next we see Team GB diver Tom Daley represented in knitted form and asking "How Are You ?". There are flags strung all around the village giving a French feel to this Leicestershire village, we see the Eiffel tower, a swimming competition and no games would be complete without the flame burning away. Next we move onto Computer games with Kirby, Sonic and Minecraft characters all in knitted form. Pikachu and friends sit under a tree and the plants and Zombies are about to start another Vs match. Back to the Nook and it's all the fun of the fairground with Clowns, wacky mirrors and even a chance to have your fortune read by the resident fortune teller. The galloping...
