A look at the Community togetherness day part of the Cosby Yarnbomb which brings together the community of Cosby to Gather, Create Grow and enjoy performances from singers such as Mellow Baku (who features in this film). There are also lots of stalls with games and things to buy from local crafters etc. Mission Magpie (seen in previous videos on this channel also feature with their unique creations including a larger than life seagull relaxing on a deckchair in the sun !. We also see bunting created by children in the trees spreading a message of love and good things.   This event is run and organised by Gather,Create,Grow and the Cosby Yarnbombers bringing people together to help with feelings of loneliness and improve their well being.

Opposite the King Richard III Visitor Center in Leicester three previously uninteresting and  unassuming junction boxes have been transformed by local street artist Wing Lo. The boxes against a wall facing the visitor centre now provide even more of a link between the centre, King Richards Statue and the Leicester Cathedral where he was re-interred. The Artwork on the boxes feature a welsh dragon the logo and colours of one of the works backers (BID Leicester) and the largest box features King Richards royal standard and the logo of the visitor centre it faces. The Rathyatra took place in Leicester featuing one of the biggest processions in the Midlands, the event begins with an inauguration ceremony at Humberstone Gate. The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) Leicester, a Hare Krishna branch of Hinduism that organises the event, said the event will bring people together. A procession from will pull a 40ft chariot carrying statues of Krishna, his sister Subhadra and Lord Balarama through the city centre, travelling along the Golden Mile to Cossington Park.

Created for the villages Open Gardens event on July 13th 2024 a new postbox topper appeared in Newbold Verdon. Created by the Newbold Verdon Knitsys the topper features a scarecrow/gardener tending to his colourful knitted blooms in his garden. Look closely and you`ll also see a friendly mouse riding on the brim of his hat and a cheeky Robin keeping him company on his shoulder.  The topper is close to the popular village tea room Liberteas which makes it handy should the scarecrow fancy a "Cup 'O' Tea and a Slice 'O' Cake".

The Archers View Vintage Tractor run made it`s way around a route taking in multiple villages in South Leicestershire. Setting off from Banbury Lane at 10.30 am before completing a loop and returning to the village of Countesthorpe later at 2.30pm to travel along main street where we catch up with them in my film. We see many vintage tractors of differing ages and types pass by St Andrews Church their unmistakable engine sounds and bright colours bringing joy to the villagers of Countesthorpe who lined the streets to see them. The ride out raises funds for 4 Leicestershire charitys Leicestershire MS Therapy Centre LOROS Hospice Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People Wishes 4 Kids it is a companion event to the larger event which takes place at Christmas with more modern tractors previously covered on this channel.

To mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy the community of Braunstone Town in Leicester decided to create a display of knitted poppies. The Banner featuring hundreds of hand knitted poppies, collected after an appeal for donations in the Braunstone Life community publication, are seen in red with white versions spelling D-Day 80 the banner is hung on the side of the Braunstone Civic Centre providing a dramatic backdrop to and complementing the memorial garden which itself is planted with red poppies and white flowers.

Join me for some riparian entertainment at The Riverside Festival which returned to Leicester`s Mile straight and surrounding areas for its 25th year in 2024. New for 24 was Dragon Boat racing with teams from NHS UHL, Arriva, Market Bosworth and Highfield Rangers among those competing and raising money for Prost-Aid. To the rhythmic beat of the drum the rowers sped their narrow dragon fronted boats between The Newark Bridge and Bridge 111A which acted as the finish line, who won ?, stay after the credits to find out !. After the races we head to the Bede Park area where there are water sports to try and boat trips along the river. Heading onto the Riverside De Montfort University campus we find a giant watering can celebrating 25 years of the festival (created by Kate Carton Events). Coming through !, Sambando perform for crowds outside the red bricks of the Queens Building before a unexpected interruption by the 'New for 24' land train offering trips around the festival. In my coverage of Leicester’s Bring The Paint Street Art Festival 2024 I present Jubilee Square transformed, by sponsors red bull, into a pop-up skate park, featuring live DJ sets and giving skateboarders the chance to show off their tricks on various ramps. Watch as skaters take on competitions and challenges, with BBC Radio Leicester as a backdrop. See them jump barriers, grind rails, and more, with just a few minor spills along the way! Please note, these skateboarders are highly skilled please, DO NOT, attempt the tricks seen in this video. Trained medical professionals were present throughout this organized event to ensure everyone's safety. Enjoy the action.
