Diwali In Leicester - River Of Light

Diwali in Leicester is known as one of the biggest celebrations outside of India itself and with the famous Golden Mile illuminated with thousands of colourful lights the celebrations got even bigger in 2025 with events across the city. One such event was the River Of Light at  @LeicesterOutdoorPursuit  with water craft of all types illuminated as they paddled, rowed, and boarded their way along the river celebrating the festival of lights in a unique, new and spectacular way that has much potential to become a much loved and regular part of celebrations in years to come. my film starts as the light fades and we see the preparations are underway riverside for the parade, meanwhile in the centre as visitors arrive under a rainbow archway, a multi coloured waterfall of light is surrounded by canoes offering a beautiful Diwali picture opportunity. Later it`s back to the river for the parade and the water becomes a vibrant mix of coloured lights on canoes and paddle board...

Light Up Leicester Festival

Light Up Leicester saw the streets of Leicester come to life with a collection of interactive illuminated artworks, a digital take on traditional light festivals, each of the large-scale installations interacted with people through sound or sensors, reacting to light, temperature or humidity levels, or responding to data via an internet connection. Three new pieces where specially commissioned for the festival and where shown in Leicester for the first time. The installations created a stunning night-time spectacle in Leicester city centre. Each of the pieces encouraged interaction by the public transforming the night-time ambience in Leicester city centre during the four days of the festival. Light Up Leicester is presented by Leicester City Council, BID Leicester and ArtReach. It has been made possible by the support of Arts Council England.

On 29th April 2016 as Leicester City Football Club where poised to win the English Premier League the City Of Leicester showed its support by illuminating many city landmarks with blue light. Named #BackingTheBlues day the event was a joint campaign launched by BBC Radio Leicester and the Leicester Mercury and supported by businesses across the city. My short film features a few highlights of the evening including a projection of LCFC players Riyad Mahrez & Jamie Vardy and the city's cathedral all bathed in blue light.
