GCR Autumn Steam Gala

Great Central Railway held their Autumn Steam Gala, Featuring four days of intensive timetabled engine movement along the line I took a trip to Rothley station to see the various arrivals and departures over the course of the Friday afternoon and early evening. From goods trains to double header express trains and even a cheeky diesel loco there was something for everyone. We begin at Leicester North but it's not long before we find ourselves arriving at the picturesque Rothley Station kept immaculately by a dedicated group of volunteers and station staff some of whom we see throughout the film. So take a step back in time (no TARDIS required) and witness the lost era of steam at one of Leicester and Leicestershire`s great attractions the ‪GCR‬ another great reason to ‪Visit Leicester.

Tornado And Flying Scotsman Double Header

Tornado 60163 And Flying Scotsman 60103 locomotives pass through Loughborough station on their way to the . With the iconic Brush transformers factory frontage visible behind them the two locomotives travel through double headed and join the regular rail traffic through the station to the surprise and delight of Friday evening commuters. We later catch up with them on the Stanford Viaduct pulled by a Red DB Class 66 " Martins House ".

GCR - Miniature Railway Spectacular

At The Miniature Railway Spectacular, The Portable Railway Club (PRC) arrived at the  @GCRofficial to lay some 1,300ft (400m) of temporary line in the goods yard at Quorn & Woodhouse Station Leicestershire. Featuring a great gathering of Steam and Diesel locomotives it made for a unique sight as they ran alongside their full sized counterparts, visitors to the #Rail200 event could get a ticket to ride their choice of locomotive at whichever scale they wished !. The PRC showcased their "Jubilee Track" with 7 1/4" and 5" gauge trains, including goods trains, sidings, and passing loops. My film begins with a green diesel passing by before we see a full sized engine leaving the station and a smaller engine picking up passengers in the foreground. Focusing on the miniature railway we see several trains making their way around the track followed by a diesel and another steam engine named red dragon. At a crossing the green diesel makes another appearance tootin...

Bus and Train Spectacular

On 7th May a selection of vintage busses from various decades made their way to Quorn And Woodhouse Station on the Great Central Railway to take part in the Bus And Train Spectacular. With busses running a timetable of trips between stations and moving around the yard there was lots going on throughout the day with lots of highly polished and well kept vehicles to see all lined up. My film hopes to give an idea of the sights and sounds of the event and follows several of the buses around the site. The event is a joint collaboration of the Leicester Transport Heritage Trust and The Great Central Railway.

Great Central Railway - Easter Vintage Festival 2019

I visited the Great Central Railway`s Quorn & Woodhouse station to step back in time and experience a traditional country steam fayre at the Easter Vintage Festival. The event features traction engines, traditional fairground rides like the steam powered Gallopers, Ferris wheel, fairground organs, classic and hot rod cars. My film aims to give a taste of the events atmosphere and features a look around the event ending with a performance by "Greengrass" on his banjo.

GCR Heritage Bus Running Day

I visited the Great Central Railways Quorn and Woodhouse station where numerous vintage buses from across the decades and county had met for a Bus rally and heritage running day. Once a regular sight on the roads of #Leicester and also in the wider country many viewers will remember catching a "Midland Red" or a "Fox Cub" into Leicester City center and the destination board at the start of my film features many familiar stops. Also featured in this film are buses and coaches used by many for trips to the seaside in skegness or maybe to Wembley Stadium for a Leicester City Cup Final this event and the vehicles featured are sure to bring back fond memories for many. Look out for a bonus appearance by the GCR Rail car which could be described as a sort of "Bus on rails". Fun fact I found my old School Bus at the event !.
